FAQs

Questions I have been asked or at least expect to be asked at some point.

How do you transcribe?

Sometimes I read the scans' text out loud and use Window's built in speech to text to write it directly into the Neocities editor. This means saying every punctuation mark out loud and being very careful I say the exact written text of the image.

Otherwise, I type down what I read from the scans. But I tend to use dictation as it is faster and acts as a spell check.

Why do you transcribe?

Because everyone should get a chance to enjoy Transformers. I realised how many people on Tumblr needed in-post image descriptions to help them understand images that contain text or to describe just images. I realised that there's a lot of scanned Transformers written material out there, particularly g1, that anyone who needs descriptions is not going to be able to access.

How did you make this website?

I taught myself how to code in CSS and HTML, freecodecamp was very useful for this. If you want to make something similar I don't mind you lifting the code from this website, but I'd like some credit as although some of the code I did cobble together from other places (particularly the dark and light mode) I did still make the final result myself.

What errors do/don't you fix from the orginal text?

I will fix punctuation errors as they do not change the original wording of the work and may confuse readers. I won't fix wording errors such as the writing tense being wrong (like in the first part of Hunted!) as that would change the orginal wording.
